A widget is like a mini-website - only better. Widgets allow you to spread the word about you or your services through the social networks. Create a widget, send to your friends, and they can post it to their websites, blogs, Myspace and Facebook pages. Make a change to your widget and it automatically updates them across the internet instantly. Widgets can include a countdown, a video, a podcast - anything that's possible on a website can be created on a widget.
It's about discovering new opportunites to reach customers. It's about simplicity, with creative messaging that will drive traffic to your site. It's about impact and creative design that makes your brand memorable. And of course it's about unique marketing that uses everything from social media to permission marketing so that your campaign is both effective and efficient.
I'm not generally given to impulse buys and my brand loyalty is fairly high, particularly where food is concerned (my New England proclivity towards frugality and not "wasting" food is somehow ingrained in my DNA). When I was working for Mattel Interactive (RIP), the Senior Vice
President was so excited by this book that he bought a copy for the
entire department. Not too enthused by the balding man on the cover, I
slipped it into the bottom file drawer of my desk, eventually toting it
home when I was cleaning out my cube one day.
